Dr. Andrea Araujo, R. Psych, BCIA Board Certified in Neurofeedback

Psychologist & Neurofeedback Therapist

Dr. Araujo believes in treating the whole person—mind, body, and brain.Her therapeutic philosophy integrates neurofeedback, biofeedback, and photobiomodulation to address mental health challenges from multiple angles. This holistic approach allows her to tailor personalized treatment plans that focus on identifying strengths, improving dysfunction, and fostering long-term healing. Whether helping clients recover from trauma or guiding them toward peak performance, Dr. Araujo is dedicated to providing a compassionate and results-driven treatment experience.

Andrea Araujo, Ph.D., R. Psych.

Dr. Araujo holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and is a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Araujo originally began her career in Psychology with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology from the University of British Columbia, where she later taught as a sessional instructor. Her training includes a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, and her thesis work on trauma treatment for sexual abuse was published in the Journal of Integral Theory and Practice (2008). Her doctoral work at the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás in Brazil (PUC-Goiás) focused on the acculturation process in immigrants, including the creation and validation of a clinical scale.

In 2015, Dr. Andrea was invited to present her work at the Encontro Internacional Integral Sem Fronteiras, in Bogotá, Colombia. Her research was published as a book in 2018 (available for purchase here). While at PUC-Goiás, Dr. Andrea received a two-year research grant from FAPEG (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Goiás) for her participation in the ALFADOWN Program Study Group – Information Technology as a Facilitating Process for the Literacy of People with Down Syndrome, which ended in August 2016. Her article was presented as a poster at the first Science and Technology Conference (1º Congresso de Ciência e Tecnologia 2015) at PUC-Goiás.

After returning to Canada in 2017, Dr. Andrea became Board Certified in Neurofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, and expanded her practice to include QEEG assessments, neurofeedback training and supervision of neurotechnicians, and mentorship. She also consults on neurofeedback research and has been a Principal Investigator for recent studies, including one for Divergence Neuro (2023) and a pilot study with Together We Can Alcohol & Drug Recovery and Education Society (2024). Dr. Andrea has also conducted her own research on the use of neurofeedback for clinical conditions, including addiction recovery, which was presented at the UBC 2020 Women's Brain Health Conference. She has given multiple case study presentations on neurofeedback clinical conditions and continues to explore innovative ways to heal the brain and mind.

Dr. Andrea is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association, the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB), the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR), the EEG & Clinical Neuroscience Society, the Northeast Region Biofeedback Society, and the Women's Health Research Cluster at UBC. She loves to keep learning about, researching, and applying new ways of healing the brain and mind.
