Dr. Andrea Araujo

Dr. Araujo is a registered psychologist in BC, BCIA Board Certified in Neurofeedback, and a licensed QEEG Diplomate. She provides psychological and QEEG assessments and neurotherapy services for her clients. Her goal is to identify strengths, areas of dysfunction and improve mental health using neurofeedback as a treatment modality. She specializes in ADHD, anxiety, autism, concussion/mild traumatic brain injury, depression, memory loss, PTSD/trauma, and sleep problems in adults and children. Neurofeedback and biofeedback can also be used to improve peak performance, meditation, heart rate variability, and lessen pain and inflammation in the brain.
Services provided by Dr. Araujo include:
1) Neurofeedback: Full brain map QEEG assessments, neurofeedback training (focus on ADHD, Autism, Mood disorders, trauma/PTSD, Brain brightening), remote/at-home training;
2) Assessments: Psychoeducational, ADHD and Autism;
3) Photobiomodulation consulting (cognitive enhancement, memory loss, COVID brain fog).
Dr. Araujo is a member of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC, the Canadian Psychological Association, the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB), the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR), the EEG & Clinical Neuroscience Society, the Northeast Region Biofeedback Society, and the Women’s Health Research Cluster at UBC, among other organizations.
Background History
Dr. Andrea Araujo holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and is a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Araujo originally began her career in Psychology with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology from the University of British Columbia, where she later taught as a sessional instructor. Her training includes a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, and her thesis work on trauma treatment for sexual abuse was published in the Journal of Integral Theory and Practice (2008). Her doctoral work at the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás in Brazil (PUC-Goiás) focused on the acculturation process in immigrants, including the creation and validation of a clinical scale.
In 2015, Dr. Araujo was invited to present her work at the Encontro Internacional Integral Sem Fronteiras, in Bogotá, Colombia. Her research was published as a book in 2018 (available for purchase here). While at PUC-Goiás, Dr. Araujo received a two-year research grant from FAPEG (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Goiás) for her participation in the ALFADOWN Program Study Group – Information Technology as a Facilitating Process for the Literacy of People with Down Syndrome, which ended in August 2016. Her article was presented as a poster at the first Science and Technology Conference (1º Congresso de Ciência e Tecnologia 2015) at PUC-Goiás.
After returning to Canada in 2017, Dr. Araujo became Board Certified in Neurofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, and expanded her practice to include QEEG assessments, neurofeedback training and supervision of neurotechnicians, and mentorship. Dr. Araujo recently earned the certification as a licensed QEEG Diplomate (QEEG-DL). She also consults on neurofeedback research and has been a Principal Investigator for recent studies, including one for Divergence Neuro (2023) and a pilot study with Together We Can Alcohol & Drug Recovery and Education Society (2024). Dr. Araujo has conducted her own research on the use of neurofeedback for clinical conditions, including addiction recovery, which was presented at the UBC 2020 Women's Brain Health Conference. She has given multiple case study presentations on using neurofeedback for clinical conditions and continues to explore innovative ways to heal the brain and mind.
Fun fact: Dr. Araujo was featured in a chapter in the book "Technology with Curves", published in 2001!
